Introduction
Today we are reviewing the Dell 24 inch widescreen flat panel LCD. In today’s world of high-definition gaming, a 24 inch LCD running at 1920x1200 natively is a definite boon to have.

The beast in full glory and attire

Below one can find the official technical specifications from Dell regarding the 2407 WFP LCD:

• Flat panel display with TFT active matrix
• Dimensions – width 22 inches, height 15.3 inches, available in black or silver; 24 inch diagonal widescreen
• Dot pitch/pixel pitch of 0.27 mm
• Maximum resolution of 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz
• Response time of 6 ms
• DVI and VGA with PIP, PBP and HDCP support
• Brightness 450 cd/m2
• Contrast 1000:1

Before I was using this LCD, I had a 20” CRT with a 1600x1200 native resolution, as well as a Viewsonic 19” 1280x1024 TFT with 2 ms response.

The additional size and desktop resolution of the Dell are very perceptible and allow the user to multitask with ease. Applications such as video and graphic editing also benefit from the additional screen plains, with these resolutions allowing the user to work with 100% or higher scaling without having to scroll images around. This additional screen space translates into productivity benefits in my opinion, and Photoshop was applauding in glee.

1 question, if u attach 2 inputs to the monitor at the same time, say DVI and VGA, what will happen? who would prevail? or is it capable to let u choose to switch from one to another easily?

You have a button to switch inputs on the bezel, and it displays the input being used numbered 1-5 (DVI is number 2). Managed to connect console and PC and switched interchangeably whatever you want to use.

i think it would cost much more to buy the high-end stuff needed for this monitor then the monitor itself xD but very very very nice :O

I'm not saying you need 8800 Ultras in SLI to run it, an 8800 GTS or a 2900 XT would be fine as well. Everything comes at a hefty price nowadays.

i run COD 2 @ 1600x1024 on my 22" with 125 fps using my 1.86 Centrino...so I guess u dont need such high specs for such a res.

Although it is stated in the review, I'm still very sceptical about how it lacks streaking of any kind. I say this because when I first bought my widescreen Dell, I thought it was fantastic until about 2 or 3 months after I got it. Did you try using a smaller LCD right beside it while playing the same game? I only noticed the ghosting of my monitor after looking at it objectively; compared to other LCD's it performs really badly and actually affects my gaming. Admittedly, it's an old model we're talking about here, but I still would like to exercise an amount of caution around these things.

I did not notice any ghosting whatsoever with this model, prior revisions of the LCD were noted to have those issues, but revision A04 (this one) I found no evidence of that over months of use.
